PLUMBING: FLOW

In “Flow” transparent and opaque layers overlap suggesting parallel architectural and material structures. I imagine networks of plumbing from above and below, layers and cross sections folding into a new plumbing system. As I chart the action, speed, and direction of a liquid, marks and stains reference spoil and urination. I use the banal--a plumbing system--to comment on issues of origin, gender, domesticity, and sexuality. This preoccupation shares characteristics with feminist and post-feminist work. Louise Bourgeois’ “Femmes-Maisons” (house as a metaphor for body) is a particular influence.
